For St. Patrick’s Day, I am excited to release our newest cross painting…”Rock of Ages.” This cross has at its center the cross of St. Bridget (a follower of St. Patrick in Ireland in the 6th century). Just as the shamrock is associated with St. Patrick, so is the tiny cross made of rushes linked to St. Bridget. While sharing the life of Christ with an ailing pagan, she would weave a cross from the rushes strewn about the floor. They are still made in Ireland today and hung in homes in honor of St. Bridget’s ministry.

(Personal fact: My family is Irish and I am named for St. Bridget, my father is Patrick;) I have a cross of St. Bridget, that my dad gave me, hanging in my kitchen.)
I named this cross “Rock of Ages,” after Sandra McCracken’s version of the song. If you have not heard her version, I highly recommend downloading ASAP! She is one of my favorite singers and this song is amazingly beautiful…I can rarely get through the lyrics “who am I that you would die to make me free” without tears! (While you’re downloading also get “In the Secret of His Presence”— actually just get the whole album- “The Builder and the Architect”!)
